Thesis Digitisation

Long back i had heard something on the lines of PhD thesis digitisation in India in the media. I was extremely happy to see the website Vidyanidhi up and running. For those who do research will know the importance of 'Literature search' forming a foundation for your research. During my days, going to the dusty libraries of Connemara, Madras University, CLRI, IIT or even travelling to New Delhi for the AIIMS library were the only options to get your hands on some important journals and thesis copies.

In the era of e-journals and digitised thesis, i know now how comfortable i can access every single page from the confines of my desk at a prestegious US university. But, how about my counterparts in India. I hear the situation is no better than my 90's days of going to paper copies in libraries (except of course for a few blessed institutions aka Ivory towers).

This is why i think Vidyanidhi under the leadership of Dr. Shalini is doing a tremendous and commendable job of digitising PhD thesis from Indian Universities.

In joining this cause, i extend my invitation and request PhD holders from India to input their thesis data into the website. You can contact Dr. Shalini from the website for any help.

இன்னும் சில நாட்களுக்கு என் நினைவை இந்த தமிழாக்கம் வாட்டப்போவது உறுதி.

நம்ம நண்பர் ஒருத்தர் கொஞ்சம் வேகமானவரு. சமீபத்துல வலைப்பூ வேலையில இருந்தப்போ, ஒரு வாதத்தை எடுத்து வச்சாரு. அது சூடு புடிச்சு இப்போ ஒரு அறிவியல் வலையா எழுந்து நிக்குது.. வாழ்த்துக்கள் நண்பரே.

"Google " தமிழில் வருது தெரியுமா?ன்னு ஒரு தம்பி கேட்டாரு. அவரு அந்த தளத்துக்கு ஒத்தாசையா தமிழ் மொழிபெயர்ப்பு வேலை செய்யறாரு. எனக்கு ஒரு சந்தேகம். Google கிட்ட பணமா இல்ல. ஏன் மொழிபெயர்ப்புக்கு காசு கொடுத்தா கொறஞ்சா போயிடுவாங்க
